Seward is known as “a drinking town with a fishing problem.” That sounds about right. A town of about 2,700 people, they take their drinking AND fishing quite seriously! As a matter of fact, Seward’s local economy is largely driven by commercial fishing. Seasonal tourism is also big, especially with the cruise ships that call on Seward from mid-May to mid-September.

Located approximately 120 miles from Anchorage, Seward is situated on Alaska’s southern coast on Resurrection Bay. The views of the snow-capped mountains from the town are gorgeous, which we thoroughly enjoyed during our first dinner in Seward. (I included a few of those scenes at the end of post #10.)
